The upgrade was not a smarter model

I used to work with AI in a chat window. Ask, copy, paste, repeat. This year I switched tools. The surprise was not a smarter model.

Last year I wrote that a chatbot is a mirror, not a pleaser. Ask better questions, get your own thinking back, clearer.

This year I retired the mirror.

The tool I use now does not live in a chat window. It lives in my terminal. It reads my files, edits them, runs the scripts, shows me what changed. I review and decide.

The difference is not intelligence. It is access.

A chat window can only advise. Everything it writes, you carry into the real work by hand. You are the courier. And the courier is the bottleneck.

An assistant with access does the work where the work lives. My whole publishing setup was built that way: I describe what I want, it makes the change in the actual files, I check it before it counts.

Here is the usable bit. Count how often in one day you copy something out of an AI chat and paste it somewhere real. Every one of those is a job you are still doing half of.

Stop being the courier between your AI and your work.
