This website does not use cookies and does not run any advertising or third-party tracking scripts. No automated profiling takes place.
Analytics
I use a self-hosted instance of Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics tool, to understand how many people visit this site and which pages they read. Umami runs on my own server (stats.karlevid.com), sets no cookies, anonymizes visitor data, and does not track you across other websites. No data is shared with any third party. The legal basis for this is my legitimate interest (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR) in understanding how the site is used.
Email newsletter
If you subscribe to receive new posts by email, your email address is stored in a self-hosted mailing list system (Listmonk) on my own server. Subscription uses double opt-in: you only join the list after confirming your address via the confirmation email. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1)(a) GDPR).
Emails are delivered via Resend (Resend, Inc., USA), which processes your email address for the sole purpose of sending. Transfers to the USA are safeguarded by EU standard contractual clauses. Your address is used for nothing other than sending you new posts, and is never shared with anyone else.
You can unsubscribe at any time via the link included in every email, or by writing to the address below. Unsubscribing removes your address from the list.
Contacting me
If you contact me by email, the personal data you provide is stored only for the purpose of handling your inquiry and for follow-up questions. This data is never shared with third parties without your consent.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or transfer your personal data. You also have the right to withdraw consent or object to processing. If you believe that your data is being processed in violation of data protection law, you may file a complaint with the supervisory authority. In Austria, this is the Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde).
